Gulfshore Ballet would like to welcome Karen P. Brown to our faculty!
Karen P. Brown
Born in Newark, Ohio, Ms. Brown performed with the National Ballet of Washington (D.C.), Pennsylvania Ballet, and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens where she attained the rank of principal dancer. She later became principal ballet mistress for “Les Grands,” and for BalletMet in Columbus, Ohio.
In 1998 Karen joined Kansas City Ballet as school director and ballet mistress. After serving as interim school director for The Washington School of Ballet (2006-2007), Mrs. Brown returned to Kansas City Ballet before retiring to Naples, FL in 2013.
In addition to teaching master classes around the globe, for Regional Dance America (RDA), and for many ballet schools and summer intensives in the US, Ms. Brown has staged several works for various choreographers and served on the jury of Youth American Grand Prix (YAGP). Karen has also staged Giselle for Kansas City Ballet, and in the Spring of 2015 assisted in the staging of a new full-length production of Swan Lake for Ballet Memphis.
Ms. Brown served on the faculty of Gulfshore Ballet during its 2007-08 season. She is proud to return to GSB under the artistic direction of Franklin Gamero and Iliana Lopez.
